More than 3,000 visit Gwynn’s Island Festival
Cricket Call, coordinator of the annual event, said that the weather cooperated "and everybody else cooperated. It was wonderful."
More than 3,000 visitors dropped in to enjoy the varieties of music and to visit the many arts and crafts booths coordinated by Carol Sharp, "my right-hand man," said Call.
Winner of the 50/50 raffle was local resident Judy Bowles. Proceeds from the raffle will help support the Gwynn’s Island Museum and the Civic League building, said Call.
Call herself won the rescue squad’s raffle of a lamp by Summer Haze pottery, of Hallieford. "It was embarrassing," said Call. A child drew the ticket.
Call said she was appreciative of the Memory Lane Car Club and the Goldwing Motorcycle Club for visiting the festival and not charging a fee, and to the sheriff’s office for providing a canine demonstration for festival visitors.
