Memorial Day poppy distribution to be held
Unit 75 of the American Legion Auxiliary, Gloucester, will hold its annual Memorial Day poppy distribution from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday through Sunday at Walmart and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday at Gloucester Pharmacy.
Over 800,000 members of the American Legion Auxiliary, the world’s largest patriotic service organization of women, are asking every American citizen to wear a poppy in observance of Memorial Day on Monday, as well as the entire preceding weekend.
"Wear it in honor of the millions of Americans who have willingly served our nation, all too many of whom have made the ultimate sacrifice," said Cheryl Shine, Unit 75 vice president and poppy chairman. "This entire Memorial Day weekend will pay an honored tribute to all veterans, especially those currently serving in the war on terror."
