Two meetings will be held next Wednesday, Feb. 8 at the Middle Peninsula Planning District Commission office in Saluda so the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation can gather regional comments on the 2013 Virginia Outdoors Plan.

Meetings will begin at 3 and 7 p.m., said Julie Buchanan, public relations specialist for DCR, and residents are invited to share their thoughts on the area’s outdoor recreation and land conservation needs.

Buchanan listed some of the important outdoor recreation and land conservation needs for the Middle Peninsula. In Mathews, Buchanan said, the list includes the New Point Comfort Lighthouse Preservation Project, Put-in Creek waterfront access and picnic area project, Fort Nonsense preservation, and Mathews Main Street Revitalization and Enhancement Project.

In Gloucester, the list includes the Gloucester County Colonial Courthouse Village Enhancement Project and bicycle and pedestrian improvements.
