Local voter turnout down slightly from 2008 election
As the local election canvass has been done, the final numbers for voter turnout are in. Overall, the percentage of total voter turnout in both Gloucester and Mathews was down, though not much, from the 2008 presidential election.
Gloucester voter registrar Bobbi Morgan reported that the percentage of total voter turnout was down by just over three percent from 2008, while Mathews voter registrar Ruth Ann Hutson said the percentage of total voter turnout in Mathews was down by just 4/10ths of a percent from what it was in 2008.
Of active voters, though, Morgan reported Gloucester’s voter turnout was up by 1.21 percent from what it was in 2008.
