In local campaigns in Gloucester, Holly Smith, uncontested candidate for Commonwealth’s Attorney, has raised the most money, according to recent financial reports filed with the Virginia State Board of Elections. Smith, the Republican nominee, has raised $12,162.73 so far. She has spent $2,837.60, leaving her with $9,325.13.

The race for sheriff has also registered high campaign contributions in the latest recording period for local Gloucester races. Steve Gentry, the incumbent, leads in the total contributions so far, with $4,989.05. He has spent $3,386.40 so far, leaving a balance of $1,602.65.

Next is candidate Ted Koehl who has received $4,211.25 in contributions to date. He has spent $2,987.19, leaving him with $1,224.06. Just behind him is candidate Larry Rilee who has received $3,429.95 in contributions thus far. He has spent $1,379.75, with $2,050.20 remaining.

Many financial statement of Gloucester County Board of Supervisors candidates remain unchanged since the last reporting cycle. However, as of Aug. 10, Robert "J.J." Orth, candidate for the Abingdon district seat, had the most in coffers, with $2,002.66 so far; he has spent $1,427.66, leaving him with $575 in his account. Ashley Chriscoe, the Republican nominee for the at-large seat, had listed $1,000.50 in total contributions so far, has spent $481.50, leaving him with $520 in his coffer. Andy James, candidate for the Ware district seat, had $823.55 in his account. Katie Thompson, candidate for the Ware district seat has $500.

Next is Richard Elmore, candidate for the at-large seat, with $467.50, while Roger West, a candidate for the Abingdon district seat, had $275. Finally, Chris Hutson, candidate for the Gloucester Point district seat, had filed that he has $100 in his coffer.

Abingdon district Republican nominee Tommy Wheat has not filed a financial report yet since he is a newer candidate.

Gloucester Treasurer Tara Thomas, uncontested, had reported $1,590 in contributions. She has spent $1,265, leaving her with $325.37. Kevin Wilson, uncontested for Commissioner of the Revenue, was exempt from filing financial disclosure forms, as he has not spent more than $1,000 of his own money.
