Alexander Hanna of Fishing Bay Yacht Club in Deltaville won the top trophy during the 49th annual Governor’s Cup Regatta at the Ware Neck Yacht Club last weekend.
Hanna led the 11 entries in the Laser Radial class with a sweep of all four races. He was also awarded the regatta’s Congressman’s Cup as the top placing junior sailor.
The Gloucester Chamber of Commerce trophy was awarded to 420 sailors Anna Patterson and Kaila Perang of Hampton Yacht Club in recognition of their display of sportsmanship and character, especially during the final race on Sunday.
Latane Montague and crew Jackson Montague of FBYC won the Hampton OD class, Gordon Woolcott was second and Randy Stokes and Ann Stokes of Norfolk Yacht and Country Club were third. Victor Layne and Thomas Rasmussen of HYC won the 420 class, followed by Nelson Woodfield and crew Evan Maguire of HYC in second place and Jacob Marquard and crew Nicholas Baker of HYC in third.
