Ground was broken last week for Coleman’s Crossing—Gloucester County’s first mixed-use development.

The "new urbanism" style of development, located near the intersection of Crewe Road and Route 17, will offer 40,000 square feet of commercial space and 85 residential townhomes.

Developers of Coleman’s Crossing are excited about all of the positive feedback they have already gotten about the development. As of Oct. 31, its website, www.colemancrossing.com, had already received over 16,000 hits.

Keith Barrack, managing partner of Zandler Coleman’s Crossing, LLC, developer of Coleman’s Crossing, said, "We’ve created a market that just doesn’t exist" in Gloucester.

JoElle Harvey, residential sales and marketing director for the neighborhood, said there will be about nine types of townhome designs that will be offered in Coleman’s Crossing. Each, she said, will offer distinct architectural details and spacious, inviting floor plans. Attached garages will be standard in all units and many will offer detached garages.

Townhomes range from 1,300 square feet to 2,480 square feet and start at $219,000. Two-, three- and four-bedroom units will be available.
