After years of planning and months of revisions, the Gloucester County Board of Supervisors finally passed a set of revisions to Gloucester’s sign ordinance during its meeting Tuesday night in the colonial courthouse. The vote was unanimous as supervisors were each given an opportunity to discuss any last-minute changes following a public hearing on the matter.

The first proposed revisions came before the board for public hearing in June. After hearing suggestions from several local business owners claiming some of the provisions were too restrictive, board members formed a subcommittee including at-large supervisors Michelle Ressler and Louise Theberge and county attorney Ted Wilmot.

Those changes went before another public hearing Tuesday night and supervisors addressed several areas that they said needed to be tweaked.

During public comment, Ware district resident Richard Elmore said he suggested a while back taking a year to give business owners time to thoroughly review the changes. "But I’m still seeing you all rushing this," Elmore said, "and I don’t know what the outcome will be."
