Two announce intentions to run for county board

Two candidates for county supervisors’ seats in November 2011 announced they were going to run during the Gloucester County Republican Committee meeting last Thursday evening in the colonial courthouse.

Ware District resident Patricia Cowan will run for the seat in her district currently held by Gregory Woodard and Tommy Wheat will be the Republican candidate for the at-large seat now held by Michelle Ressler.

Susie McMillan, Republican Committee spokesperson, said the candidates announced so early because they wanted the public to understand they take the event of running as a serious consideration for the county. "We don’t want someone standing up because no one has yet and do a halfway job," McMillan said.

She also said the committee meeting yielded one of its highest attendances ever, with over 50 people present.
