A series for adults about financial issues has been planned at the Gloucester Library in Main Street Center.

Adult program coordinator Ginny Snowden said that the first program, titled “Financial First,” will begin at 6 p.m. Monday. Snacks will be served at 5:30.

The first program will focus on empowering young adults to make wise decisions about budgeting, banking, credit and large purchases. Kimberly Allen, a representative of ClearPoint Credit Counseling Solutions, will lead the sessions.

A free budget workshop will be held from 6-8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 17. Allen said this session will help you find out where your money is going, with information about how to track expenses, and how to use today’s spending habits to plan for a stronger financial future.

At 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 15, a workshop about wise use of credit will be held. “Good heath requires managing your weight and fitness,” a flyer said, “similarly, healthy credit comes from managing your finances well.”

A “Surviving Financial Setbacks” workshop will be held from 6-8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19. Allen said that “financial emergencies happen to everyone,” but she will share ways that participants can “learn to minimize damage to their credit and weather their hardship while planning for a brighter future.”
