Gloucester Library receives early childhood literacy equipment from state

Children’s coordinator Kathy Barrows said the new equipment was first made available for use at the main library in Main Street Center in early January. The Library of Virginia also sent equipment for the library branch at Gloucester Point, but the present branch does not have space to house it. Gloucester is exploring options to open a new branch in the lower county, and the equipment—now in storage—will be made available when space permits, she said.
The state provided an assortment of toys with educational themes, Barrows said. The Gloucester Library will swap its themed kit after six months, and trade it with a kit sent to another library under the special program.
