Daffodil Festival draws huge crowds
This past weekend’s Gloucester Daffodil Festival drew more people than ever, according to the county’s special events coordinator Denise Carter.
"I still feel like I haven’t woken up from the dream yet," she said. "It was just amazing."
When Saturday’s festivities came to an end at 5 p.m., Carter had to get on a loud speaker to ask the people who still filled Main Street to leave in order to give the vendors a chance to pack up for the day … and to encourage them to come back again Sunday.
One of the best facets of this year’s festival, she said, was that there were no major problems. "It went so smooth, it was almost scary," Carter said.
She attributed the success of the festival to the major team effort that was made months prior to and during the festival. "That’s what made everything run so smoothly," Carter said.
She said she has seen many Saturdays at the festival, which is the main day of activities, less crowded than it was on Sunday.
