Cows killed by coyotes in northern Gloucester

A Gloucester man had lost 23 cows as of Tuesday morning, all believed to have been killed by coyotes.
Glenns resident Gordon Llewellyn said he first discovered his animals had been attacked the weekend before last and reported losing 12 cows the nights of Jan. 18, 20 and 21.
On Tuesday, he woke up to find 11 more cows, of all sizes, dead.
Carl Shipley, chief animal control officer for Gloucester County, confirmed that the cows had been killed and suspected the culprits were coyotes.
In the meantime, Llewellyn said he has received numerous phone calls from other livestock owners as far north as King William County.
"It’s becoming a real problem now," Llewellyn said. "After they get through with mine, they’re going to move on to others after they get that taste of blood in their mouths."
On Tuesday, Llewellyn said animal control officers were on his property setting traps and special bait.
