Jim Pyne, director of the small communities division for the regional wastewater treatment agency, said that the contract specifies that work will be completed 90 days after the contract is signed, but that the date could be impacted by the weather.
Once demolition is completed, said Pyne, the only things that will be left on the site will be the foundation slabs, which will remain at the request of the county, and a small pump station that serves the gravity sewers in the Court House area. All the fencing will be removed, and the site where the drying beds are located will be graded and reseeded.
The work is being done at no cost to Mathews County, said Pyne, and the surplus property will be transferred to the county at no cost, as well. HRSD will retain ownership of a small piece of land around the pump station.
