Comprehensive plan update due this year
The Gloucester Planning Commission set its priorities for 2012 during a meeting on Jan. 5 in the colonial courthouse. Topping the list is updating the county’s Comprehensive Plan.
Even before the meeting, planning director Anne Ducey-Ortiz said in a memorandum to the commission that "we have already added Comprehensive Plan Update as your top priority for 2012."
Ducey-Ortiz said the Gloucester Board of Supervisors will hold a work session in May to discuss the proposed plan revisions with the commission.
The consultant for the update is contracted through June, Ducey-Ortiz said. The Hampton Roads Planning District Commission, of which Gloucester is a member jurisdiction, is under contract with Gloucester to provide special expertise in helping with comprehensive plan revisions.
"In addition, during 2012 staff and the commission will be actively working with the Main Street Preservation Trust for a plan for the Court House area and finalizing the implementation ordinance for the Gloucester Point Hayes Village Development Area Plan," Ducey-Ortiz said. Both of those were listed as priorities as well.
