A fish fry to benefit the Mathews Volunteer Fire Department will be held on Friday at the Piankatank Ruritan Club building, Route 198, Hudgins. Take-out meals will be available starting at 3:30 p.m., with dining in the club from 4 to 7:30.

The cost is $10 for adults, $7 for children ages 7 and under. The take-outs will be drive-through; people won’t need to get out of their vehicles, just drive up and present your ticket and the meal will be brought to you. The drive-in will remain open until 7 p.m.

Tickets are available at the Seabreeze Restaurant, Mathews Lawn and Garden, the Mathews Visitor and Information Center, the Bay School, North Star Mart, the Mathews branch of Chesapeake Bank, from members of the Mathews Lions, Mathews Rotary and Piankatank Ruritan clubs or from any MVFD member.

People are encouraged to purchase their tickets ahead of time to avoid congestion at the door. The community fish dinner is being sponsored by the Mathews Lions Club, Mathews Rotary Club and Piankatank Ruritan Club.
