The Rebecca Lloyd Tabb Chapter 107, United Daughters of the Confederacy, will present a reenactment of a Civil War prisoner exchange on Sept. 28 and 29, with activities at Gloucester Court Circle, Gloucester Museum of History, and the First Presbyterian Church lawn.

From 7 to 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28, family lantern walking tours will be held to meet the soldiers and gather around the campfire to hear their stories. Cookies and lemonade will be served.

The prisoner exchange itself will be held on Sept. 29. Starting at 10 a.m., guests can tour the encampment that includes soldiers’ tents, medical tents, horses and their accoutrement. Roaming dignitaries will include the likes of Gen. Robert E. Lee, Capt. Sally Tompkins and Judge Robert Ould.

At 11 o’clock, the Ladies Aid Society will be present at the Gloucester Museum of History. Then at 1 p.m., the featured prisoner exchange will take place at the court circle. The encampment will be open until 4.

The event is free and open to the public. Live music and food vendors will be on site. For more information, call UDC chapter president Bonnie Daughtry at 693-5741.
