Christmas Blessing Fund gets underway

The Mathews Christmas Blessing Fund is off to a great start, more than a third of the way toward its $25,000 goal after one week, chairman Clarence Minters has announced.

Donations so far are $9,760, with contributions received from the following:

Active Adult Fellowship of Emmanuel U.M. Church, Central United Methodist Men, Central Village Homemakers of Mathews, Chris Mart, Inc., Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Faulkner & Son, Inc., Kingston Episcopal Parish, Mathews Ruritan Club, Owens Foundation, Salem United Methodist Church, The Seabreeze, Star Fields, LLC.

Also, David and Jane Abbott, Linda M. Baldwin, Beverly and Brent Barefoot, Marianne Boyer, Jennifer and Gregory Britt, John W. Brooking, Bernard C. and Amelia Buchanan, James and Jeannie Callis, Stan and Mary Ellen Cath, Richard and Brenda Clements, Elizabeth and Brian Mark Clemmons, Boyd Collier.

The fund helps needy residents with heating bills and other emergency assistance. Donations may be sent to Christmas Blessing Fund, P.O. Box 74, Mathews, Va. 23109.
