Candidate forums to be held in Gloucester and Mathews

The Middle Peninsula League of Voters will hold a series of candidate forums in Gloucester and Mathews counties in preparation for the upcoming Nov. 8 election, and the Mathews County Woman’s Club has also announced a forum.

Nadine Tatum, co-chair of MidPenVOTE, said candidates for state and local offices will discuss vital issues affecting the community. There will also be a time for the public to ask questions.

In Mathews County, all forums will begin at 6 p.m. in Mathews Memorial Library and will include candidates for Commissioner of the Revenue, Commonwealth’s Attorney, Sheriff, Treasurer and Tidewater District Soil & Water Conservation director on Sept. 22; candidates for the General Assembly (House of Delegates and Senate of Virginia) on Sept. 29 and candidates for board of supervisors and school board on Oct. 10.

In Gloucester, all forums will begin at 6:30 p.m. at T.C. Walker Elementary School and will include candidates for Commissioner of Revenue, Commonwealth’s Attorney, school board, Sheriff, Treasurer and Tidewater District Soil and Water Conservation director on Sept. 26; candidates for board of supervisors on Oct. 3 and candidates for the General Assembly (House of Delegates and Senate of Virginia) on Oct. 24.
