Bowditch, Hodges lead GOP candidates in fundraising efforts
Two Republican candidates for the 98th District House of Representatives seat have each raised over $50,000 so far in campaign contributions, according to campaign finance records on file in the Gloucester County Registrar’s office.
Gloucester resident Sherwood Bowditch’s campaign has accumulated the most contributions, followed by the campaign of Urbanna resident Keith Hodges.
Bowditch has raised $72,498.67. So far, he has only spent $19,942.29, leaving a balance of $52,556.38.
One of his top contributors is Del. Harvey Morgan, who announced he will not be seeking reelection to the 98th district seat, a position he has held for over 30 years. According to the report, Morgan has contributed $5,000 to the Bowditch campaign. Bowditch served as Morgan’s legislative aide in the 2000 General Assembly session.
Other names on Bowditch’s list of contributors include Paul Trible, president of Christopher Newport University, donating $1,500, and Del. Glenn Oder (R-Newport News), donating $250.
"It is heartening to have such broad support from across the district and know that there are a lot of people who share my vision and passion for the Middle Peninsula," Bowditch said.
