Regional economic planner Harrison Bresee of the Middle Peninsula Planning District Commission said on Monday that Ursula Lemanski of NPS’s Rivers and Trails Program is expected to begin working on the project as early as next week.
Lemanski’s job will be to talk to various residents with a stake in the park, help resolve conflicts, and gain consensus on a vision and management approach for the site, said Bresee.
She will also be responsible for organizing a local steering committee to guide the process; conducting public meetings; and compiling and interpreting data on site conditions and on natural, historic, and cultural resources.
In addition, Lemanski will assess the costs and feasibility of any projects; help determine who should be responsible for performing various tasks; and complete a plan that includes maps, graphics and narrative to describe the project.
