Battle of the Hook reenactment expected to attract 1,000+ soldiers

Warren Deal, chairman of the Return to the Battle of the Hook reenactment, presented the plans for a second major event to be held Oct. 19-20 on the grounds of Warner Hall, home of George Washington’s ancestors, at the March meeting of the Gloucester Board of Supervisors.
The first Battle of the Hook reenactment, held in 2008, drew nearly 1,500 reenactors and 8,000 spectators.
Deal said he expects October’s event to be the largest Revolutionary War reenactment in the United States in 2013.
"The Revolutionary War reenactment celebrated General Washington’s victory over the British Army," Deal said. "Historic battles will be brought to life by living historians. Recreated military units from across the country will encamp near the actual battlefields where the American Revolution was won after six long years of fighting."
