A picture-perfect festival: Market Days draws an estimated 12,000-15,000
Art Dubey, chair of the Mathews Market Days Committee, called this year’s festival, held Friday and Saturday on Main Street, the "most successful" yet.
It was by far the largest, with Dubey estimating at least 12,000 to 15,000 people filling the streets. "Just after noon on Saturday, in looking down the main drag, you could hardly walk through there," he said.

In walking around the event, Dubey reported that each vendor said he or she was doing well selling their products. "Some food venders were planning to stay for the street dance but had to close early, around 5 or 6 p.m. on Saturday, because they were sold out," he said.
Another gauge in the success of this year’s event was that all 325 Mathews Market Days posters by Gib Pulley were sold within two days.
