Supervisors approve school funding change

After months of back and forth and a joint meeting with the school board, the Gloucester County Board of Supervisors voted 4-3 Tuesday night to move from lump sum to categorical funding of the school system, for fiscal year 2011-2012.

Judge quashes subpoena in Hicks lawsuit

Richmond Circuit Court Judge Theodore J. Markow granted a motion Friday afternoon to quash the subpoena for Gloucester resident Garr Johnson.

Wetlands board approves two applications

Two applications for construction that will impact wetlands were approved by the Mathews Wetlands Board on Oct. 6.

Fire damages Hayes metal finishing facility

A fire at Advanced Finishing Systems Saturday night on Route 17 at Hayes caused an undetermined amount of damage to several large plastic vats containing material used for metalwork, as well as electrical connections in that area of the building.

BZA approval sought for catering, special events business

The Gloucester County Board of Zoning Appeals will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the colonial courthouse. One public hearing is scheduled.
