The men of Central Methodist do breakfast right
Breakfast: It is said to be the most important meal of the day. It certainly gives a good start not only to the day but the weekend as well, if you happen to be lucky enough to have had breakfast with the Central United Methodist Men on a Saturday morning. And breakfast is not their only specialty. This is the same dedicated group responsible for those spring and fall shrimp feasts held at the church.
The cooks and helpers arrived at the Mathews church’s social hall and kitchen between 6 and 6:30 in the morning to begin cooking and getting the table, coffee, and everything else ready for the gathering. By 7:30 things were pretty well set. Fresh fruit bowl, jams and jellies were in place. Biscuits were heated while the sausage sizzled in its pan and the scrambled eggs were gently stirred. In the meantime a potato casserole was removed from the oven. Within minutes the call for breakfast was heard. Following a grace said by one of the members, the delicious eating began.
What a nice way to start your day, with good fellowship, camaraderie, excellent company with great food.
