Southern hospitality shines in modern Atlanta
This writer recently had the privilege of enjoying what Atlanta has to offer in today’s world.
At the home of Joanne Smith, senior vice president of In-Flight Services for Delta Air Lines, the definition of southern hospitality came alive. Scarlett’s Aunt Pittypat would have loved to be there.
A native of California who has traveled from coast to coast, Joanne has been settled in Atlanta with Delta Air Lines for the past 12 years. Her husband passed away five years ago, and with her two daughters away at school, Joanne likes to entertain in what could be considered small groups. “I love to cook. I would make cooking one of my hobbies if I had the time. Maybe later on, as I would like to work for six more years and then retire.
“I’m not so experimental with my cooking as I like to use a recipe and follow its directions, but I love to try new recipes. However, when having guests I usually rely on my tried-and-true dishes,” Joanne confided. One of her tried-and-trues is pasta. She makes her own. “I guess if I had to make a decision I would choose Mexican foods as my favorite.” Her recent dinner party was a gourmet’s example of Joanne’s favorite foods, Mexican flavors at their finest.
