Relaxed summer luxury dining at Myrtle Beach resort
Myrtle Beach is the setting of the Ripken Experience baseball fields (named for retired Major Leaguer Cal Ripken) where this year’s Ripken "Tidal Wave" tournament was held over the July 4 weekend. The Buckhead Braves of Atlanta, Georgia, composed of 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 year old players made up this writer’s team; this writer’s star player is Evan Mapes, almost 12. Their food was as good as their play; the Braves lasted until the final playoff.
What could be more American than baseball, hot dogs, hamburgers with all the extras and fireworks? Relaxin’, comfortable and elegant evenings were spent at the Marina Inn at Grande Dunes. There, the Intracoastal Waterway wraps around its beautiful landscaped gardens, and hospitality and gourmet foods are top priorities.
