Also, the Central Village Homemakers are a vital part of this community. In just 2013 they have contributed to at least 15 service organizations and charities in Mathews County including Meals on Wheels, Triad, Mathews Volunteer Fire Department, Mathews Volunteer Rescue Squad, Christmas Blessing Fund, and the Senior Center. Two scholarships are awarded annually to high school students and one child gets a scholarship to 4-H camp. This organization appears to leave no one out when it comes to their generosity. It contributes to the school BackPack Program, the After-Prom Party, the Robotics Team, and the county Cafeteria Fund.
The money to support this generosity comes from hard work and determination. All year long members are creating and making items to sell in their Market Days booth. They also participate in the Countywide Yard Sale event and they accept individual donations.
