Each of the banquet tables displayed several arrangements of deer antlers artistically designed with hunting accessories.
"We had done something like this in a church in North Carolina that I had been with and I thought it would be a nice event for this area," explained Pastor Edgell. "I thought in an area where men were interested in fishing, hunting and all outdoor sports it would be a Christian event for the community that everyone would enjoy. It started as a men’s gathering and we now have a lot of women who participate."
David explained perfectly just what the Outdoor Sportsman Banquet is all about in his introduction to the upcoming event when he wrote, "We are looking forward to the upcoming Outdoor Sportsman Banquet. Each person will enjoy a great meal, music, door prizes, workshops and much more as they experience a great evening with men from our community."
Well that is exactly as it was. It was a great evening that began at 4 o’clock with a cup of Brunswick stew in one hand and a glass of iced tea nearby. There were exhibits to see and study with workshops on various subjects such as Food Plots/Land Management and ATV Safety to attend if you so desired, right up until dinnertime. Throughout the Fellowship Hall people were visiting, Southern hospitality was at its very best, and the music kept you stepping.
