Ashley Gilmartin has been named the new executive director of the Gloucester Main Street Association, an organization that promotes businesses in the village and offers family events throughout the year.
Gilmartin began her duties April 1; she works full-time. She replaces Jen Christman, who stepped down from that post in February to accept a job managing a Williamsburg business.
"We’re very pleased so far," GMSA president Mac Houtz said of Gilmartin. He said the job attracted a lot of interest and she was selected from some good candidates.
The association has approximately 60 paid members, Houtz said April 29, and he is looking forward to increasing that number.
Gilmartin said she arrived on the job and immediately began helping with logistics for the second annual Brew Jam, set for Saturday, May 11, in the village. This outdoor festival will feature beer and four local musical acts, she said.
