Anytime Fitness opened for business in late August at Hayes Store Shopping Center. A grand opening will be held this fall.
David Stroupe of Hayes, who owns the center with his wife Martina, said they lease 5,000 square feet that once housed a restaurant. The couple holds the local franchise for Anytime Fitness, a chain of nearly 2,000 centers headquartered in Hastings, Minn., which has facilities in more than a dozen countries.
Stroupe said a popular feature of the facility, which is handicapped accessible, is that members have 24/7 access. Attendants are on duty on weekdays, with multiple security cameras providing protection for members exercising at all hours every day or night. The center is principally aimed at men and women age 18 and older, Stroupe said, although those age 16 and 17 may exercise there only when an attendant is on duty.
Anytime Fitness features an assortment of exercise equipment, Stroupe said, including ellipticals, bikes, treadmills, a stretch machine and other apparatus. To the rear, free weights are available. There is a group fitness room where members can exercise to fitness tapes.
In addition, there’s a tanning room so members can tan whenever they wish, with a maximum of 20 minutes per session. Restrooms and shower facilities are located in the rear.
