It may be named The Shoppe at Ordinary but the merchandise inside is far from ordinary.

Benny Harris of Gloucester owns the new store, which opened in late November on Route 17, Ordinary, adjacent to Sunnyside Nursery. Harris and his wife, Teresa, travel to auctions and other outlets in search of unique merchandise.

Helping to run the shop are Benny’s daughter-in law, Monica Harris of Gloucester Point, and his mother, Sarah Harris-Fentress of Gloucester. The store is regularly open Wednesday through Saturday, two Sundays each month, and by appointment.

Monica Harris said they specialize in antiques and accessories. The recently remodeled store has new lighting which best shows off the varied selection of merchandise.

Glassware is another popular item. Among some of the other merchandise spotted on a recent visit to the shop were fine and costume jewelry, gently used furniture, artwork, and Western items like a saddle. Harris-Fentress said most of the items they sell are gently used.
