The second annual Gloucester Wine Festival will be held from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday at the Gloucester Institute’s Moton Center on the banks of the York River at Cappahosic.
Sponsored by the Gloucester County Chamber of Commerce to benefit its general fund, the event will be held rain or shine at 6496 Allmondsville Road.
Persons attending the chamber fundraiser will be treated to an assortment of wines from seven Virginia wineries, including Athena Vineyards & Winery of Heathsville, Byrd Cellars of Goochland, and Saudé Creek Vineyards of Lanexa.
The festival will showcase 45 vendors, with the exhibit space totally booked, said Makalia Records, the chamber’s executive director. Vendors will sell artwork, wooden crafts, jewelry and other products, she said.
In addition, several food booths will be set up, including Riverwalk Restaurant of Yorktown serving lobster bisque and Mom’s Bake Shoppe of Gloucester selling baked goods.
Entertainment will be featured as well. XTRA 99 FM will have a remote radio broadcast from the festival, while live entertainment will include Juniper Green of Mathews performing from 12:30-2:30 p.m. and Toby Calloway and Larry Heatwole of Gloucester playing from 3-5 p.m.
