Little Italy Ristorante, Gloucester’s newest Italian restaurant, opened for business last month at Fox Mill Center.

Sebastiano Liggieri of Newport News owns the restaurant and manages a sister store near Fort Eustis. His daughter, Linda Peterson, manages the Gloucester restaurant.

Peterson said they are from Italy and some of the menu items are authentic Italian recipes from their homeland. They have lived in the United States for more than 20 years.

Little Italy is open for lunch and dinner Monday through Saturday. The restaurant seats approximately 100 diners, Peterson said, and they offer dine-in and take out service.

A popular item on the menu is pizza sold whole or by the slice, Peterson said. There are many types to choose from, with thin and Sicilian (deep dish) pizzas, topped with all types of veggies, grilled chicken, shrimp, steak, and more.

House specials include spaghetti carbonara with prosciutto, chicken cacciatore with green peppers and mushrooms, scallop marinara with white wine sauce, and tortellini alla panne with cheese stuffed tortellini in a white cream sauce.

Hot subs include meatball parmesan, veggie, sausage/peppers/onions, among others, while the hoagie list includes the club with roast beef/turkey/ham/provolone, the "Little Italy" with ham/turkey/bacon and more, and the Italian combo which includes capicolla.
