Linda Friesen opened 4 U’r Health in mid-August at the White Marsh Shopping Center.
Friesen said this is the first store she has owned, but she previously managed several other shops on the Peninsula. She has been very interested in herbs since she was a teenager and has studied their uses and can make recommendations to customers.
Since she suffers from celiac disease and cannot eat products that contain gluten, such as from wheat, rye and barley, Friesen sells many gluten-free products such as powders made from hemp (high in omega oils), and binders like xanthan gum.
Shelves are stocked with bulk herbs, vitamins and supplements, personal care products like organic toothpaste, organic juices, sodas, sea salt, extra virgin olive oil, salad dressings, canned and packaged veggies, brown rice couscous, brown rice syrup (a sweetener made without any gluten), soups and an assortment of snack foods. Coolers contain ice cream made with rice powder (Friesen said the chocolate flavor is delicious), cheeses, and meats like free-range turkey and nitrite-free bacon.
