A new 7-Eleven store opened recently on Route 17 at the entrance to Shoppes of Gloucester. A grand celebration was held last weekend at the store, which featured product samples, giveaways, and discounts on select beverages.

Manager Connie West said that the new facility is being billed as "the store of the future," with this the first one of its type in this region. The store is more environmentally-friendly, she said, and was built with energy-efficiency measures such as using more insulation and skylights.

The store also is the first in the area to offer the convenience store chain’s new coffee bar urns for a large selection of plain and flavored coffees, West said. Other new features are a large assortment of hot foods not previously offered at the former store, such as pizza and hot wings.
