Courthouse Barber Shop opened Aug. 1 in new quarters next to The Beauty Vault on Main Street in Gloucester.
Owner Tracy Dougherty of Gloucester previously operated the shop across Main Street from the new location.
"I really like the more modern, upgraded look," Dougherty said of her new shop. She has two barber chairs, hoping to add a second barber soon to help her.
Dougherty offers all types of haircuts and shaves, but does not do permanents and color services. Her clients include men, women and children, she said, and all are served on a walk-in basis with no appointments taken.
Dougherty has 35 years’ barber experience, having been trained at a school in Connecticut. She has been in barber in Virginia since 1990. Previously, she was a substitute teacher at Gloucester High School.
