Morris Optical Company recently relocated to White Marsh Village Shopping Center on Route 17. The business previously was located at Town and Country Center, White Marsh. Owner Ed Green, a licensed optician, said he opened the new shop July 1 and held a grand opening celebration on July 9, complete with refreshments, drawings for prizes, and a radio station remote broadcast.
The new store is larger than his previous space, Green said, and his showroom now stocks double the number of eyeglass frames. An on-site lens lab is located to the rear.
Green custom makes eyeglasses and prescription sunglasses, following the prescription written by an optometrist or ophthalmologist. He said that custom fitting and adjustment is an important component of eyeglasses, as is making repairs.
Also, he sells contact lenses and an assortment of eyeglass cleaners and supplies.
Green works full-time. He is assisted part-time by his wife, Judy.
He purchased the business two years ago from the family of the late Scott Morris, who had operated the business for 18 years.
Green has 26 years’ optical experience. Most recently, he was manager of an optical shop in Williamsburg and previously served as district manager in Ohio for a national optical business.
