Mike James of Hayes wanted to help after the tornado that damaged portions of Gloucester in mid-April. He has found two distinct ways—lending a hand with debris removal and using his professional talents in computer-assisted design.

Using the computers at his business, CADOperators.com, LLC, James is coming up with interior and exterior plans for some of the tornado victims who are trying to rebuild their homes. He is not charging for these services, which he said would typically run in the hundreds of dollars.

As of June 10, James said he has almost completed design for one family’s replacement home in the Coke area and was about to start work on design for a second family. Other families affected by the tornado that might benefit with free design service can call James at 695-6709 or visit http://CADOperators.com.

The company’s slogan is "If we can’t draw it, you can’t build it." James offers design and drafting services, including electrical, plumbing and other utilities in his detailed plans.

James, who is not an architect, said he felt it was important to give back to the community in its time of need. He said that even if you have homeowners’ insurance, it does not pay for design services.
