C&C Exhaust & Auto Repair will open Tuesday in the rear of the Ultimate Electronics building on Route 17, Hayes.

Owners Mike Conner of Clay Bank, and Ron Crawford of Gloucester, lease three service bays in a portion of the building that once housed The Yachter’s Den.

They specialize in custom exhaust work and air conditioning repair. C&C offers many other services, Conner said, including custom pipe bending, power steering, ball joints, tire rotations and engine checks.

Crawford said they plan to become a state inspection station later this year.

In getting ready to open, they have purchased specialty equipment such as a 14,000-pound lift that can handle all types of cars and large and small pick-up trucks, an asymmetrical floor lift, a custom pipe bending machine, and a Snap-on diagnostic testing machine.

Crawford previously managed a Meineke repair shop in Williamsburg and has worked at several other auto shops in Richmond and Gloucester. He has been in the auto repair business for about 17 years.
