The Gloucester Main Street Association will host a summer event series, titled "Market Nights on Main."
Jen Christman, the association’s executive director, said the promotion will be held from 4-7 p.m. each Wednesday from June 1 to Aug. 31. "We will do our best to hold it, rain or shine," Christman said, with the event being called off only in case of severe weather.
This will be the second year for "Market Nights." Last summer an average of eight vendors participated, but the market ended earlier than planned because drought left few crops to sell, Christman said.
She expects an average of 10 vendors each week at this year’s market. They will sell locally grown products, from Gloucester and other Virginia places, with fresh produce, seafood, meats, jams and jellies, baked goods, and other items. Vendors will set up at the gazebo across from the Morgan Building on Main Street.
