River’s Inn, an upscale restaurant located at York River Yacht Haven, Gloucester Point, will close at the end of this month.
Tina Schadler-Phillips of Gloucester Point, who manages the dining room of the popular restaurant on Sarah Creek, said that her father, local chef and restaurateur Hans Schadler, wants to close the establishment they have operated since May 2009 so that he can devote his energy to opening a new restaurant in Williamsburg.
Schadler resides in Williamsburg and previously served as chef and culinary director for Colonial Williamsburg.
"It’s been a wonderful time here at the River’s Inn and the success we have achieved has been fantastic," Schadler said. "We are grateful to have had such a beautiful location for our first restaurant but Williamsburg is home."
"The time is right and we are excited to open our brand-new facility," Schadler said, without indicating a specific opening date for his new establishment.
"In the Williamsburg restaurant you can expect to experience what we do best: the seasonal menus, exceptional wine list and the special events for which we are known," he said.
