ACI, a Hayes business that specializes in firefighting equipment sales and service, plans to expand its facility later this year.
Brook Thomas, vice president of the business, said ACI is now based in a 3,000-square-foot building on Route 17, and will double in size by this fall.
The extra space will allow ACI to carry more items and provide extra space for repairing firefighting equipment and the company’s expanded line of fire extinguisher sales and service.
From its early business of repairs, the company expanded to sell a wide assortment of firefighting equipment, including the air packs, turnout gear like coats and helmets, and apparatus including nozzles and related equipment, Thomas said.
Addressing safety, he said that businesses should check their fire extinguishers monthly, and routine service should be done at six- and 12-year intervals. Homeowners should also get into the habit of regularly checking their fire extinguishers and having them serviced periodically.
