JW’s Car Wash and Detail plans to raise big bucks for eight local nonprofits from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
Located at the corner of Main Street and John Clayton Memorial Highway in Gloucester, the full-service facility is hosting an Incredible Charity Car Wash. Each of the eight selected nonprofits will be able to have a bay for 3½ hours and will receive 100 percent of the proceeds from donations earned during that time.
"They can participate as much or as little as they want," said JW’s spokesman Micki Harbour.
JW’s owner Jeff Wine plans to have a charity car wash every quarter, but he’s not stopping there. The Stage 4 cancer survivor wants to give back to the community, said Harbour, so each of the nonprofits will be eligible to receive donations based on customer membership fees. Twenty-five percent of monthly membership fees for up to 100 customers per nonprofit will also be donated. The plan can earn each nonprofit nearly $1,000 every month, said Harbour, while the customer gets the benefit of regular car wash services. If a customer maintains a membership for 13 months, the chosen nonprofit will receive a donation equal to an entire month’s fee.
