Yacht Dogs restaurant opens in Saluda

Bill Nachman | Posted on Jun 20, 2012 - 11:44 AM Printer Friendly View

Yacht Dogs opened in late April at 502 General Puller Highway in Saluda.

The restaurant is owned by Bill Llewellyn and his wife, Lynn, who reside in the house adjacent to the restaurant. For now, Yacht Dogs offers take out only, but the Llewellyns might later upgrade it to a full-service restaurant.

Besides a brisk take-out business, they offer on- and off-site catering. Located adjacent to Middlesex High School, Yacht Dogs has ample grounds which can accommodate craft and car shows.

Featured on the menu is the namesake "Yacht Dog," a premium hot dog topped with chili, mustard and red onions, along with other hot dog variations including the "Carolina Style Dog," topped with pulled pork barbecue and slaw, and "Yachtie Hottie," topped with chili, pepper jack cheese, jalapeno peppers and red onions.

An assortment of sandwiches, wraps and salads have also been selling well, Lynn said, such as shaved lean roast beef on French bread, solid white albacore tuna on a Kaiser roll, and the oft-requested BLT salad with fresh vegetables and smoked bacon bits.
