Village Lanes, a bowling and entertainment center in Gloucester Court House, is now under new ownership.

In late December, Mahmood Kalantar of Gloucester and his wife, Belinda, purchased the business from Brian Jennings and his family, who had owned the lanes for a number of years. The Kalantars are new to running a bowling establishment, said Belinda Kalantar. However, they are not newcomers to the entertainment business as they have owned Hillside Cinema, located off Route 14 adjacent to Village Lanes, for about a dozen years.

"We want this to be a family place," Kalantar said of Village Lanes. To that end, the center offers both leagues for all ages and open bowling.

The pro shop, managed by Hannah Harris, now offers an expanded inventory and sells an assortment of balls, which can be custom drilled to meet a bowler’s grip requirements. Also, the shop sells bowling shoes, bags, gloves and accessories.
