Seafood restaurant opens at White Marsh
Off The Hook Seafood Shanty opened for business March 21 at White Marsh Shopping Center.
Angela Eyre-Harder of Glass, owns the restaurant, which specializes in seafood dishes, along with some pasta, chicken, salads and soups. The building previously housed the convenience store for a gas station and has been redesigned to seat 48 diners.
Customers can dine in or take out, and Harder also offers a retail section where you can drop by to pick up freshly-packed crab soup, dips, and some prepared dishes. Soon, she plans to sell a selection of fresh fish and shellfish, along with some steamed shrimp and other cooked delicacies to take home.
Beer-battered fish and chips has been selling well, Harder said, with the Atlantic cod cooked with a Yuengling beer batter and served with hand-cut fries and a homemade tartar sauce. Also popular are crabcakes, fried shrimp, clam chowder, crab soup, Greek salad, and the pork barbecue sandwich, which Harder said features tender pulled pork roasted in house.
The restaurant is open seven days a week, serving lunch, dinner and take-out. Daily specials are offered, Harder said, and she plans to add a few seafood-themed brunch items soon that will be available throughout the day.
