$80,000 awarded in Main Street improvement grants
Each of the eight Gloucester Court House business and property owners that applied will receive a share of the $80,000 set aside for the 2015 round of Main Street Preservation Trust grants, according to executive director Jenny Crittenden.
MSPT’s target area for the façade, interior and merchandising grants is from Main Street Center to the court circle.
“The Main Street Preservation Trust is thrilled to be able to continue to offer these improvement grants,” Crittenden said, “and it continues to be the catalyst for improving the physical nature of the downtown.”
For façade improvements, grants were available up to $20,000. She said the improvements can include windows, doors, awnings, landscaping, exterior painting, exterior signage, site work, and roofs where they are seen from Main Street.
For interior improvements, grants were available up to $10,000. Crittenden said these improvements could include interior painting, flooring, lighting, plumbing and electrical upgrades.
