Quarterdeck Restaurant opens for business

Bill Nachman | Posted on Apr 27, 2011 - 01:39 PM Printer Friendly View

The Quarterdeck Restaurant and Lounge opened April 14 at Gloucester Point Shopping Center on Route 17 at Gloucester Point.

Owner Bob Eller of Jenkins Neck, said he named the new business for the historic naval term after his 10 years of service in the U.S. Navy, where his highest rank was E-6.

Eller said word-of-mouth has already attracted repeat customers to The Quarterdeck. Diners can enjoy lunch and dinner, selecting from American, French, Moroccan and Italian dishes, thanks to the expertise of chef Linwood Rowe, whose mentor has been chef at Epcot Center and at several major big-city restaurants. Chef Rowe is assisted in the kitchen by sous chef Justin Henderson.

"I want this to be a family place," Eller said, and children are welcome to dine with adults. The menu features all homemade dishes. Popular entrees include fish tacos filled with flounder, Peruvian chicken, baby back ribs, chicken penne pasta, fish and chips, and popcorn shrimp. Sandwiches include a pan-seared crab cake, a traditional Monte Christo, burgers with all types of toppings, and the rib-eye sandwich cooked to order. Daily specials are also offered.
