Port Haywood market offers wide array of products
Island Stop Market, Inc., opened for business March 21 on New Point Comfort Highway at Port Haywood, in the building that once housed J.R.’s Convenience.
Owners Marvin D. Goodrich III and his wife, Jackie, own the market. They reside at Peary and operate the business seven days a week, Marvin said, with lunch and dinner now being served from the deli. Extended summer hours and an expanded hot food menu will be offered soon, including breakfast and pizzas.
They stock a wide range of convenience store items, including soft drinks, beer, snack foods, and health and beauty aids. One wall is filled with fishing tackle and supplies, while nearby shelves are filled with marine supplies such as bilge pumps, flares and safety equipment.
The “New Point”—a multi-meat sandwich—has topped the deli sandwich sales, Jackie said, with other freshly-made sandwiches such as with chicken salad, barbecue and grilled cheese with bacon. The bleu cheese potato salad has sold well, as has the Chicken Caesar Pasta Salad.
